What is the Need for the Incinerator?
After the pandemic, the world and all organisations become aware of the management of medical waste. And it paved the path for the perfect protocol that needs to be followed in the management of medical waste.
Usually, medical waste needs to be separated accordingly at the process of collection like cotton that is used in surgical and injection syringes and so on. The waste must be properly taken up from the hospital and all the clinics for disposal.
Basically, medical wastes are classified depending on their uses and they are:-
- Human anatomical waste like tissues, organs and body parts.
- Animal wastes generated during research from veterinary hospitals.
- Microbiology and biotechnology wastes.
- Waste sharps like hypodermic needles, syringes, scalpels and broken glass.
- Discarded medicines and cytotoxic drugs.
The waste must be properly disposed so that which may not lead to any sort of the environment problem that is like transmission of virus in the air and contamination in the water bodies since these wastes are used to decompose upon time so these things have disposed properly. They are disposed by so many methods of which one effective measure is the use of medical waste incinerator technology.
Here the waste materials are exposed to the high temperature and followed by some steps that are detailed in the above sections.
MEDICAL WASTE INCINERATOR
Medical waste incinerator involves the burning of the biomedical waste that are produced in the hospitals, clinics, medical research facilities and some from the veterinary facilities. These wastes include both infectious (red bag) medical wastes and as well as non-infectious and general hospital wastes and so on.
HOW IT HELPS IN THE DISPOSAL OF THE WASTE?
It usually eliminates the pathogens and even kill the bacterial spores that are developed on the cotton materials and reduce the volume overall weight and mass of the waste that go to landfills by about 80% and more. It also renders breakdown of chemical and convert them back to the harmless chemicals so that they doesn’t even affect the surrounding environment and doesn’t affect the soil of that region where landfill occurs. With the proper technology, only little acid gas is released to the atmosphere.
The below diagram explains fully about the how the wastes are collected from the plant and how it is incinerated in the incinerator and so on
