Portable Cellphone Microscope

Abstract:

When people get sick, they generally go to their doctor, get a prescription for what ails them, and feel better if they follow the medications properly. If the root cause for the disease is a pathogenic microorganism the doctor definitely need a lab report for further treatments. E.g.: Viral Fever, Typhoid, Dengue Fever, Bacterial Diseases and several other types of diseases caused by microorganisms.

In the medical lab there are so many different types of microscopes available for diagnostic purposes. From light microscopes to well sophisticated electron microscopes are the devices using for studying microorganisms to find out a proper solution for the diseases which they cause to mankind.

Students who are interested in studying the micro structural forms of living and non-living things are having chances only at their lab. The limited amount of time and sources sometimes don’t allow the keen students to study and practice more.

Even in higher educational levels, studying the tiny particles which cannot be seen by bare eyes are only limited to the lab sessions.

In the other hand mobile phone technology is well reached from top to bottom corners of the world. It is rare to find someone who is without a cell phone. The reason why everyone has cell phone is for communication from wherever they are and everyone can afford to buy a cell phone according to their budget. It is not a compulsory requirement whether the cell phone owner is well educated enough to handle it.

Therefore build up a portable microscope by using the cell phone is the right way to satisfy these types of people’s need is the proper solution for this problem……

Fall Detection System

Abstract:

Falling is a common phenomenon and the most significant cause of injury for elderly people. This study investigates the methodology to identify falls from normal Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and how assistance can be given soon afterwards, to prevent elders from fatal conditions.

Here, a Wireless Sensor System (WSS), based on accelerometer and gyroscope, is attached with their chest like a sticker which contains of this WSS to collect real-time fall data.

Experiment protocols starts at standing position as its initial position and consisting of two types of falls such as forward fall and backward fall whenever these types of falls take place the Elder’s Kit which is attached to the individual, sends signals to the Monitoring Department and then the medical assistance will be provided to that particular patient as soon as possible.

Executive Summary:

This project simply targets, those who need special care relevant to their movements, such people are elders and patients who must be stayed in bed. Therefore their movements should be monitored for their own health safety without their concern because they have their own freedom to move.

So, this fall detection system which is a prototype and which can be applicable in a care taking places such as elders’ home and even in hospital wards, is needed to monitor their orientations which has some facilities to measure their acceleration as well as their gyration for a better posture detection. If suppose a fall happens this system should alert the care takers for immediate medical assistance.

Even though there are advanced Fall Detectors are available, understanding the basic functions of this system is so important. Hence such a prototype is discussed in this project.

OGAWA MASTER DRIVE Massage Chair - Bioinstrumentation Project

Abstract.

Massage chairs with internal electric motors and gears have been in existence since mid-1950s. They were invented to mimic motions involved in a conventional massage applied by a human masseuse. One such company known in Malaysia is OGAWA. OGAWA prides itself in its mission to build a portfolio of wellness products, services and solutions. The latest model in their arsenal is the Master Drive 4D Thermocare that aims to apply human-like full body massages through accurate massages that are claimed to precisely target the acupunctural points.....

Introduction.

Massage works on the assumed principle of constant external motion along, against, or circular onto an area, aiming to improve its vascular supply to prevent and remove the accumulation of excessive deposits of lactic acid. This excess is presumed to be due to constant contraction causing exaggerated anaerobic respiration. Muscle spasms are thought to be the symptomatic manifestation of this local lactic acidosis. There has been few studies on the efficacy of massage on releasing spasms and muscle tension however results and patient satisfaction were variable....

Electromyography (EMG) functions to measure electrical activity of the muscles in response to a nerve stimulation onto a muscle group. Electrodes are attached either intramuscularly or onto the surface of the muscle of interest and connected to an oscilloscope where the electricity picked up by the sensor would be displayed. The muscle tissue at rest does not usually produce electrical signals.

The Trapezius Muscle is our choice of muscle to be studied in this report due to its accesibility and location (close to the surface of the body) and relation to neck pain in psychosomatic stress. It is also noted to be one of the acupunctural points in complementary medicine.
It is hypothetized in this study that the baseline EMG reading would be higher, reflecting slight contraction in response to trapezius muscle tension prior to being.........

They should be readily configurable, swift responding as well as with perfect reproducibility and sensitivity. In this work, the MQ-135 sensor system is based on an electrochemical sensor acting through a liquid median and controlled via a dedicated low-noise electronic interface is equipped together with an elaboration unit able in extracting and storing a committed sample for carbon dioxide detection. Subsequently, monitors the carbon dioxide flowing out of the human body’s exhaling after the oxygen inhalation process from Meriwell Sonic Oxygenic device.

Introduction.

The objective of this study, to analyse the scale changing processes of carbon dioxide (CO2) over various normal subjects by using Meriwell Sonic Oxygenic device. Monitoring the carbon dioxide (CO2) in specialized measuring for the human body's exhaling. The system proposed in this work measures carbon dioxide using an MQ-135 gas sensor and is mainly a process of measuring the exhaling to meet in one hand with a goal of enhancement the inhaling and exhaling in the human body. Healing crisis will appear after using the treatment of Meriwell Sonic Oxygenic device. The body will change by getting the healthier.......

The mechanism of work produced two distinct stages: Firstly, A hardware stage which consisted of an electronic system capable of acquiring and processing CO2. Gait and Motion Analysis for Bio-mechanics Experiment

Abstract.

In this experiment, our aim was to analyze the components and dynamics of motion. We chose to observe the kicking action, where three subjects were asked to perform this action on the force plate. Motion analysis software and equipment were used to record the motion for each angle; in the report the left hip angles, left knee angles and left ankle angles for all three subjects were compared along with the force in the x, y and z directions. With all the graphs generated for the mentioned parameters from the software, it was possible to discuss and compare the kicking force and motion for all subjects. These were the kinetic and kinematic components of the motion.

Introduction:

The technology that supports human motion analysis has advanced dramatically in the past two decades. Motion systems are of many varieties including infrared reflective light, refractive light, digital video camcorders, electromagnetic sensors, and accelerometers. Software is abundantly available for measuring and recording particular body areas or whole systems during a variety of activities.
Detection requires the use of markers that are either active (radiating sound, light, or electrical waves) or passive (reflecting infrared, refracting real light, or electromagnetic waves). In our experiment, the markers were reflecting infrared light. The ability to accurately acquire ground reaction forces has been provided by the force platforms. Gait analysis consisting of joint kinematics, kinetics and dynamic EMG data is performed and properly interpreted by experienced individuals, it is now recognized as a clinically useful tool.
In our study, we are going to analyze the kicking motion for three subjects and then compare the phases and plots. The software that will be used is the 8-camera Vicon Motion analysis system, and it will capture the lower limb kinetics. The subjects must have 16 reflective markers placed on their lower limbs in such a way that they are in close.........
